I made this decadent Affogato desert a few months ago when I invited a friend for dinner at the last minute and quickly realized I had no desert to serve and basically no time to make or bake one. I needed something I could make in 5 minutes right before serving. I remembered I had vanilla Ice cream in the freezer so making a delicious affogato was just perfect!

I just tweaked the basic recipe a bit and added crushed meringue (mini pavlovas) and some chocolate shards. The result? A super fast, decadent and delicious desert!

Preparation : 5 min

Serves : 2

What you’ll need:

2 tsp of espresso powder

1 cup of boiling water

Vanilla Ice cream

Store bought meringue or mini pavlovas

Chocolate vermicelli or shards to sprinkle

Affogato recipe in 5 minutes

How to make it:

Boil a cup of water and pour into a jug. Add 2 tsp of espresso powder. You can also use decaff if the caffeine is too strong for you or any of your guests.

Scoop out 2 vanilla ice cream balls into each cup.

Crush the meringue with your hands into pieces on top.

Sprinkle with chocolate vermicelli or some chocolate shards that you can scrape with a knife from a chocolate bar (I used both)
